Chick with Sticks

Hey guys…I’m writing this on my phone! My phone!! Ah, technology is so cool.

I’m going to be busy here at work this week and may not update this blog much. I did go to the needlework group meeting on Saturday and might go to other meetings. CJ showed up too so that was fun. And yesterday on my day off I gave Lilly a haircut.

Pictures! I have some! They’re on my phone which is why I’m writing this on my phone, I thought it would be easier to get them from point A (phone) to point B (blog). I’m cutting out the middle man (computer). And I have no idea if the pictures will even show up…

(on a computer now) And there they are! They’re in reverse order so that last picture was suppose to show up first, that is her before the cutting began. If you blow up that second picture, you’ll see the pile of clothes has returned to my couch, as I knew it would.

I’ve been invited to join a needle work group, but I’m not sure if I want to go. As far as I know, I only know one person in the group, the person who invited me, and although she is very nice, we’re not close.

I’m kind of anti-social. Ok, very anti-social. I like my friends and can spend all day with them, but I don’t really have any interest in hanging out and meeting new people. If I meet someone and we happen to click, then great, I have a new friend. But by joining a group, I’ll feel obligated to like these people, even if I don’t really like them.

But I also feel obligated to go, since the woman who organizes the meetings mentioned me in the weekly email newsletter. She even linked to my blog (my other blog, I obviously wouldn’t write this if I thought the group would be reading it) and encouraged them to check out my shop.

The next meeting is this Saturday at a local coffee shop that I have been wanting to go to since it opened but haven’t had the chance to visit yet. So I might stop in just to check out the coffee shop.

Ugh, I don’t know…I’ll probably decide whether or not I’ll go about 10 minutes before it starts. Why can’t any of you, my wonderful friends, be knitters? I’d love to hang out with people I actually know and knit! Or you can just drink coffee while I knit.

It is very rainy here today, and just look at Lilly in her cute little raincoat!! I am not a fan of pink and I did not buy this raincoat for her, her D-Mama did and it just happens to match a raincoat owned by a certain someone (…D-Mama!). But she looked too cute this morning in it, so I had to take a picture of her.

Last week was so busy here, but a good kind of busy. We needed some pictures taken of some products so I got to be a photographer for a few days. I don’t think I’m very good at it, but I enjoy this part of my job. My boss has a really expensive camera that is probably worth more than my car, and I’m pretty sure it is smarter than me. And it makes a really cool ‘I’m-an-expensive-camera’ shutter sound when you take pictures.

I get to set up a mini photography studio in our back room, set up photography lights and props. Then I position the products in various positions, kick off my flip flops and get in all kinds of weird crazy positions to get good angles. Really, if I were any good at it, I would love to be a professional photographer. But for now I will settle for the little bit of photography work I get to do here.

My week has sucked so far. The only bright spot was when I sold something on Monday. That’s the third sale I’ve had in a two week period, which for me is a step below winning the lottery. I make maybe one sale a month to 6 weeks usually, if I’m lucky.

But anyway, back to my crappy week, which I realize is really not that bad but just bad enough to feel like complaining about it. First is Lilly – she just got over the colitis she had a couple of weeks ago and she is starting to experience the exact same symptoms again. On Monday night she was up every two hours wanting to go outside, which means I was also up every two hours. And I was worried about my little puppy dog so it took me an hour to get back to sleep each time.

I wanted to give her something like Pepto Bismol to help her sleep, but I didn’t know if that is safe for dogs. So when I dropped Lilly off at Jody’s mom’s house Tuesday I asked her to call the vet. She said Pepto is OK, a small amount twice a day. And she also suggested rice and chicken, which L^2 and Heather had also mentioned last time. Lilly freaking loves that stuff! All I hear is smacks, slurps and snorts for about 2 minutes. I give it to her right after the Pepto so she quickly forgets about how horrible I am for making her take that nasty pink stuff. So far it seems to be working and she *appears* to be back to normal, but she will be tagging along to Gracie’s (DMama’s cat) vet appointment on Thursday and she will probably get a quick check up while she is there.

The next crappy thing that happened is the air conditioner went out at work. There are actually two systems, one for each side of the building. The one that went out….it’s the one on my side. Someone came to work on it yesterday, and although it’s not hot in here, it is muggy. My hair and skin feel icky.

And to top it off, I tried to make coffee at home this morning only to find my coffee maker had passed away overnight. I went through all 5 stages:

1. Denial – There was no way he had died. I just used him yesterday! He was completely fine! I walked around my house plugging him into different outlets to see if it was an outlet problem (it was not)
2. Anger – How DARE he die on me! Doesn’t he know I NEED coffee! Dammit!
3. Bargaining – Fiddled with the cord, begged for *one last brew* – contemplated making coffee on the stove (is that possible?)
4. Depression – Realized it was a lost cause, hung my head and went back in to the bedroom
5. Acceptance – Remembered that Jody always has coffee waiting for me at his shop in the morning

On top of all of that, I really need to dye my hair but I forget about it until I look in the mirror every morning… plus this humid weather is not agreeing with my skin…I’m just ready for this week to be over.

I have a website page-a-day calendar on my desk at work that lists a weird website each day. Today, the calendar pointed me to website that claims the first Friday in May – today – is No Pants Day.
